The Home Listings Finder (HLF) website was the first design of a series of websites that I did. This is a redesign of the original site. I was the only designer in the team and I assisted with the front-end development, but was not overly involved. My job was to create a website that had a brand, and used a similar layout to the original site, but looked more appealing. The image to the right is of the Canada version of the site, which looks very similar to the USA version.
The listings page was a challenge in that I needed to prominently show 6 or more house listings, but not make them the focus. The goal of this site series was to feed traffic to other real estate sites. The listing provided thus needed to be there, but not take up room or catch the eye. I solved this problem by actually putting the listings in the top banner, making them very prominently placed, but also making them feel like they weren't a part of the actual page content.
To go with the HLF site series was an apartments version (which looks the same as the above version with a different image and logo) and the foreclosure version to the right. What the client wanted for an image could not be found in stock images. I created an image to suite their purposes instead.
Here is a more detailed look at the artwork. I created the homes as vector paths in Photoshop and then painted a scene around them.
After creating a series of 4 sites that were all similar, I was asked to make 2 versions that had the exact same layout but looked entirely different. Here is the first version.
This is the second re-skin version.
